Rapscallion Heart

The book is "A Calendar of Tales" by Neil Gaiman and the tale is the March Tale. It can be downloaded here, in PDF and Audiobook.

For those who doesn't know the book, it was an illustration contest in which first, Neil Gaiman asked some questions about every month on twitter waiting for people to answer them, then he picked the one he liked best. After that, there was the contest (no, I didn't aply! /o/).

READ the Tales and SEE the illustrations entries, it's an amazing experience!

"The first of the March rain fell, then, and Mrs Riley surprised her daughter by getting up from the porch swing and leaning into the rain, so it splashed her face like sea-spray. It was quite out of character for a woman of such respectability.

As the rain splashed her face she thought herself there: the captain of her own ship, the cannonade around them, the stench of the gunpowder smoke blowing on the salt breeze. Her ship’s dead would be painted red, to mask the blood in battle. The wind would fill her billowing canvas with a snap as loud as cannon’s roar, as
they prepared to board the merchant ship, and take whatever they wished, jewelsor coin, and burning kisses with her first mate when the madness was done..."

Quiçá a mais querida

After a long long long long LONG TIME. I'M BACK!

It started because of a friend who asked me to illustrate some of her favorite poems and quotes.
And the poem was "Quicá a mais querida" by Julio Cortázar I googled the english translated version, but I didn't find anything... sorry.

Quiçá a mais querida

Deste-me a intempérie,
A leve sombra da tua mão
Passando por meu rosto.
Deste-me o frio, a distância,
O amargo café da meia-noite
Entre mesas vazias.

Sempre começou a chover
Na metade do filme,
A flor que para ti levei tinha
Uma aranha esperando entre as pétalas

Creio que sabias
E que favoreceste a desgraça.
Sempre esqueci o guarda-chuva
Antes de ir buscar-te,
O restaurante estava lotado
E vozeavam a guerra nas esquinas.

Foi uma letra de tango
Para tua indiferente melodia.

Home

Not exactly a poem, but I thought it was close enough.
Watercolour + photoshop
Based on this song:

Home by Philip Philips

Hold on, to me as we go
As we roll down this unfamiliar road
And although this wave is stringing us along
Just know you're not alone
Cause I'm gonna make this place your home

Settle down, it'll all be clear

Don't pay no mind to the demons
They fill you with fear
The trouble it might drag you down
If you get lost, you can always be found

Just know you're not alone
Cause I'm gonna make this place your home

Settle down, it'll all be clear
Don't pay no mind to the demons
They fill you with fear
The trouble it might drag you down
If you get lost, you can always be found

Just know you're not alone
Cause I'm gonna make this place your home
